Here are some photos of Alhambra palace and fortress in Granada, Spain. The Alhambra was born in ancient times as a military fortress under the domination of the Moors around the ninth century. Later it became the royal residence of the sultan with the Muslim Nasrid dynasty, until the Catholic reconquest around 1492, when it was once again used as the royal residence of King Ferdinand of Aragon.
The Alhambra was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984, undoubtedly because it is a fascinating monument with beautiful palaces, watchtowers and gardens.
